Anthonius Van Varenbergh was meisenier in 1649 van Erps. Hij was tevens pachter in "Het Rode Schild'. Het "Rode Schild" situeert zich op de hoek van de Kammestraat en het Dorpsplein in de gemeente Erps. Dit geboouw of de site - met oorspronkelijke naam "Den Roede Scilt" - werd reeds vermeld in de 14de eeuw.(1) In het bijzonder heeft een zekere Roggier Geertuide in 1365 een cijns van 2 gulden betaald op de eigendom.(1) In de 18de eeuw kreeg het gebouw als bestemming de kosterwoning van Van Bever Franciscus.(1) Anthonius Van Bever, de zoon van Franciscus, verkocht het pand aan de Haachtse notaris Guillielmus Bols.(1) Diens opvolger werd notaris Vander Perren Joannes Jacobus.(1) In de 19de eeuw fungeerde het gebouw als herberg voor notabelen uit de gemeente Erps, waar 3 generaties Boon eklaar als herbergier opvolgde waarbij de herberg de naam "In den Edelen Handboog" kreeg.(1)
