In 1868 keerde hij terug naar Utrecht, waar hij achtereenvolgens woondein de Hooge Jacobijnstraat H39 (1868) en de Havenstraat E120 (1869-1886) Utrecht.

Het zevende kind werd niet thuis geboren, maar in de Hambugerstraat F183 Utrecht.

In 1900 had Nicolaas een vleeshouderij en spekslagerij aan de Oudegracht (Hamburgerstraat) no 35 Utrecht.
