Westdorpe bezat toen vier vaste banen voor de Doelsohietingen. De meest gefrekwenteerde lag bij Charles de Cooker, meester kleermaker, herbergier in de Trompetstraat. Dit was de netste baan, waarbij niet mag gezegd worden, dat de an- dere banen niet netjes waren. Daar zat het hem niet in. Omde een ol andere reden trok de baan bij de Cooker meer mensen uit de betere stand.

Charles de Cooker\rgroeide uitzijn huis in de Trompetstraat. Zijn zoon Gustaaf werd slager van koe- beesten en die nam een groot gedeelte van het woonhuis in beslag. Charles de\rCooker de Cooker zou op Wies zijn eigendom, een flinke lap grond, een nieuw huis bouwen en tegelijkertijd voor een nieuw onderdak zorgen voor Wies Reght.
