Gerard is geboren op 26 maart 1909 en behoort tot de laatste generatie (de 4e) van het kleermakersvak. Hij heeft de kleermakerij van zijn vader Driek op 1 januari 1938 overgenomen. Hij is door het huwelijk met Johanna Assmann op 5 februari 1942 gaan wonen aan Noordhaven 58. Uit dit huwelijk zijn 7 kinderen geboren, waarvan 1 kind kort na de geboorte is overleden, de ander kinderen zijn Ria, Henk, Wim, Kees, Ferdinand en Thieu.
Uit gegevens van de Kamer van Koophandel heeft hij:
Op 5 januari 1945 de Hoeden- en Pettenzaak van achteroom Marijn Neevens samengevoegd met zijn winkel in heerenmodeartikelen.
Op 3 oktober 1951 kleinhandel in heeren- en jongensbovenkleding aan zijn assortiment ingevoegd.
Door de opkomende confectieindustrie heeft hij zijn kleermakerij moeten beëindigen, volgens de Kamer van Koophandel is de onderneming op 1 januari 1957 opgeheven.
Daarna is hij als werknemer gaan werken in enkele confectieateliers in West Brabant.
Op 20 januari 1961 kwam hij door een noodlottig ongeval te overlijden.
