"Op 20 september stonden we hier met een paar man te kijken, toen de Duitsers twee personen bij een boerderij van een neef van me tegen de muur hadden staan.
Dat was een paar honderd meter van waar wij ons bevonden. Ze waren klaar om te schieten, maar omdat ze zagen dat wij stonden te kijken, namen ze het tweetal weer mee. Het bleek om 2 onderduikers te gaan, die wat al te optimistisch te vroeg tevoorschijn waren gekomen en door de Duitsers waren gearresteerd. Het betrof de 18 jarige J.C.M. Freericks en de 20-jarige W.K. Flipse . Ze zijn toen door de Duitsers meegenomen en later op de Postelsedijk terecht gesteld. Op die plaats is later een gedenkteken opgericht".
Verzetswerk en illegaliteit 1940-1945
Flipse, verloofd met Jo Hendrick, lag tot najaar 1969 begraven op Rustoord (U 42). Zijn naam staat vermeld op gedenkplaat van de Nyma, nu in Valkhofmuseum. In Bladel zat hij ondergedoken, aldus Gerard Thuring, en zou hij de binnentrekkende geallieerden bijgestaan hebben. Hierbij zou hij op de Kroonvense Heide in Bladel betrapt zijn door een Duitse patrouille, tezamen met de verzetsman J.C.M. (Hans) Freericks van de Partisanen Actie Nederland. Flipse en Freericks hadden enkele gewonde Duitse soldaten beschoten en gedood die te voet op weg waren naar een verbandpost, aldus de verklaring van Duitse zijde. Beide partisanen werden daarop door de Duitsers standrechtelijk geëxecuteerd.
