Entré à Val-Dieu le 18 mars 1720, il fit sa profession de foi le 14 août 1721, ordonné prêtre en 1724. A Val-Dieu, sous-prieur dès 1735, prieur dès 1740. Il était curé de Warsage en 1744( détail d'un vitrail de l'église: "Rus.Dus; Leonardus Legro quondam prior Vallis Dei, pastor in Warsage, anno 1744"). Consacré abbé de Val-Dieu le 3 février 1750, en présence de Fabritius, abbé de Rolduc et Stockart, chancelier de Brabant, délégué par le prince Charles de Lorraine, gouverneur des Pays-Bas. Premier assesseur de Sa Majesté, seigneur de Housse, de Gorchum ..., primat de l'état ecclésiastique au duché de Limbourg, seigneur de Warsage. En 1757, il fit construire le ponr de Val-Dieu qui porte ses armes.
