Elle vécut d'abord dans son domaine de Saix, entre Tours et Poitiers, puis fonda avant 560 un monastère à Poitiers, où elle institua comme abbesse sainte Agnès et réussit à recevoir de l'empereur Justin une relique de la Sainte Croix qui allait donner son nom au monastère.
