After arriving in New Orleans in 1842, Andre Goffinet stayed for a short time and then started for Leopold, Indiana where they arrived in March 1842. The town of Leopold was not laid off at this time and the country but thinly settled. Most of the people in the area had all traveled to America from Belgium. The township was named after the King of Belgium at the time. Much of the descendants of Andre Goffinet stayed in the Leopold area even to this day, while others moved on to Texas as well as a few other places. Also, to this day there are still related Goffinet families living in Belgium. I would be happy to talk to anyone researching this family.Stanley Lusk
