De achttiende eeuw begint voor dit deel van Brabant niet met grote welvaart. In 1708 is de nood zo hoog dat de molenaar van Kaarschotse molen Jan Willem Cools naar Rotterdam gaat om levensmiddelen te kopen.

 

De H. Geesttafel verzorgt de armenzorg. Peter Jan Dirk Michielsen gaat als armenmeester begin 1709 naar Roosendaal om daar 8 viertel gerst te kopen voor de armen in Rijsbergen. Een viertel wordt ingezaaid op 1 ha. grond.

 

In die tijd werd er op verscheidene manieren belasting geheven.

In 1714 wordt Cornels Jan Merten Geerts aangeslagen. De reden van de aanslag is onbekend, misschien heeft het iets te maken met een overlijden of erfenis te maken daar er in deaanslag van "erven" wordt gesproken.

De aanslag wordt alsvolgt omschreven:

Geen huisaanslag, want dit is 24-06-1692 door Willem Huibregts afgebroken.

Wel de erven etc. worden anageslagen voor 1/4 gem. a 3 f = 3/4 f

Landt en de Grootakker - 3/4 gem. a 2f-m = 3/4 f

Landt en de Grootakker - 1 1/2 gem. = 1/2 f

 

In 1717 krijgt Jan Cornelis Jan Merten nog een belasting aanslag, maar dit maal voor zijn huis wat verder van zijn aanstedige grond ligt en ditmaal is de aanslag groot 10 f.

 

In 1719 wordt Jan Martin Geerts aangeslagen voor bezittingen in Tichelt. Het betreft hier een huis met erf welk aanstedig is 2 1/2 gem. a 2 f = 5 f.
