In 1334 had hij samen met zijn oom Heynric een deel van het grafelijk domein aan de Schie in pacht, oftwel hij was “beleend” the Schiedam. Dat belenen gaf hem de naam “van der Lede” of “van der Lee”.

In 1347 en 1351 treedt hij op als leenman van de Heer van Mathenesse.
