Extract uit een van de registers van de BS van de gemeente Delft: ". Op 13 mei 1870 is uit het water van de gracht van het Rietveld opgehaald het lijk van Bartholomeus Zandbergen,wonende te 's Bosch,thans aldaar verblijf houdende, oud 34 jaar, metselaar, die reeds enige dag en vermist werd. De ongelukkige ,die aan de drank verslaafd was, waaraan welligt zijn droevig einde is toe te schrijven, laat eene weduwe en twee kinderen in hulpbehoevende omstandigheden achter.
