Notes about Gerardus Leonardus "Ger" Ritzen

Ger verliet reeds op jong leeftijd (14 jaar) het ouderlijk huis, om een opleiding voor matroos op de binnenvaart in Rotterdam te volgen; na deze opleiding werkte hij enige jaren op de binnenvaart. Later volgde hij enige tijd een opleiding voor ziekenverzorger in de Lucaskliniek in Hoensbroek, deze opleiding moest hij echter vanwege rugklachten staken. Vervolgens ging hij in de Horeca werken, en behaalde verschillende certificaten en het middenstandsdiploma. Na enige jaren "uitsluitend" als huisman en huisvader gewerkt te hebben, ging hij later als taxichauffeur werken. Ger overleed aan de gevolgen van long- en botkanker.
