In de overlijdensakte van Aaltje Alberts Kral wordt vermeld: "mevrouw van Harmannus Nieland, zeeman, vroeger te Veendam woonachtig geweest, doch sedert jaren afwezig". In de overlijdensakte wordt niet gerept van een huwelijk met Geert Jans Lokken. In de overlijdensakte van Gezina Barbera Nieland (dochter van Aaltje Alberts Kral en Harmannus Gerrits Nieland) staat vermeld, dat zij is overleden aan het Oosterdiep te Veendam. Tevens wordt vermeld dat haar vader Harmannus Gerrits Nieland is overleden. In 1844 woonden Aaltje Alberts Kral en Geert Jans Lokken ook aan het Oosterdiep.
Van Aaltje Alberts Kral en Geert Jans Lokken bestaat geen huwelijksakte. Geert Jans Lokken is vanaf 21 juni 1831 weduwnaar. Op grond van de overlijdensakte van Gezina Barbera Nieland blijkt dat Aaltje Alberts Kral in ieder geval vóór 16 december 1844 weduwe was. Uit haar eigen overlijdensakte kan worden afgeleid dat Harmannus Gerrits Nieland sedert jaren "vermist" was. Omdat niet met zekerheid kon worden gesteld dat Aaltje Alberts Kral weduwe was, mocht zij naar ik aanneem niet huwen met Geert Jans Lokken. Omdat zowel de overlijdensakte van Aaltje Alberts Kral als die van Geert Jans Lokken geen melding geeft van een onderling huwelijk, neem ik aan dat zij nimmer gehuwd zijn geweest, ook al wordt in geboorteaktes van enkele van hun kinderen vermeld dat zij ehelieden zijn of dat Aaltje Alberts Kral de ehevrouw is van Geert Jans Lokken. Zo hebben zij zich in ieder geval vanaf circa 1833 voorgedaan.
