In 1880 kwam het gezin wonen op de boerderij Borgercompagnieweg 39 welke was gebouwd in 1815. De huidige boerderij werd door Jozephus Otto gebouwd in 1902. In 1916 werd de boerderij overgenomen door zoon Harmannus Johannes en in 1955 door diens zoon Harmannus Bernardus.In 1973 werd de boerderij verkocht.

In 1898 stichtte hij en zijn broers Bernardus en Hendrikus en zwager B.H.Steenhuis de NV Aardappelmeelfabriek "Espérance" te Tripscompagnie. Met leden van de familie Lubberman werden onder Bergentheim veengronden aangekocht voor de brandstofvoorziening van de fabriek.
