Hij trouwt in de Broederenkerk te Zutphen voor de eerste keer op 17 april 1744 met Antonia van der Haar, zij is dan weduwe van Steven Maas. Uit dit huwelijk worden zeven kinderen geboren. Na het overlijden van Antonia van der Haar hertrouwt Willem Gasendam opnieuw in Zutphen op 11 augustus 1773 met Anna Maria van Eck, die dan weduwe is van Tieleman uit Rotterdam.
Bij zijn overlijden woonde hij in het huis no 687 in de Spiegelstraat te Zutphen.
