Notes about Jan Branbergen

In 1880 begon Jan Branbergen met het bakken van hardbroden. Hij legde daarmee de grondslag voor zijn koekjesfabriek. Hier werden koekjes gemaakt met de beeltenis van Bruintje Beer, een stripheld. Om deze reden is in het centrum van Musselkanaal een standbeeld van Bruintje Beer geplaatst.

Toine Branbergen schrijft: "De oprichter van de koekjes fabriek in Musselkanaal, Jan Branbergen is de overgroot vader van mijn opa, Anthonie Jan Branbergen. Zijn twee zoons Teun en Jan Branbergen namen het stokje over van hun vader Jan Branbergen. Toen Teun en Jan stopten, nam Anthonie Branbergen (3e generatie) het stokje over als algemeen directeur. Anthonie Branbergen heeft de fabriek daarna lange tijd gemanaged. Door de hevige concurrentie bleek de fabriek uiteindelijk helaas niet levensvatbaar meer.

Het Anker is de naam van de Branbergen koekjesfabriek die in het Groningse Musselkanaal stond, inmiddels is deze afgebroken en ik heb alleen nog de foto?s.

De producten van de Branbergen koekjesfabriek droegen Bruintje Beer als logo. Als productnaam werd de stripheld Bruintje Beer verbonden aan de promotie van de producten van Branbergen. In Musselkanaal staat nog steeds een levensgroot Bruintje Beer standbeeld. Er is zelfs een Bruintje Beer vereniging opgericht".
