Blz.1123 Claes Cornelijs Smal is een zoon van Cornellis Claessen, mogelijk landbouwer in Woldendorp, en Jantien Isebrands. Claes ovl tussen 15-3-1692 en 9-1-1694. Hij woont in 1653 tegenover het Schuitendiep, in 1654 op het Damsterdiep, in 1658 in de Steentilstraat, en in 1660 aan de westzijde van het Aa diep te Groningen. In 1662 wordt Claas Cornelis Smal in het Gildrechtboek opgenomen. Claes wordt als menist aangeduid in het burgervaandel van 1659 te Groningen, maar zijn kinderen worden gereformeerd gedoopt. Hij tr. 18-3-1652 in Scheemda (H.V.), 21-3-1652 in Scheemda (1e pr.), otr 13-3-1652 in Groningen, 1-4-1652 in Groningen (att) met Lijefke Rijchts, dr van Richt Eltijens, landbouwer in Scheemderhamrik no.80, en Anna Abels. Lijefke ovl na 12-2-1697.
