Notes about Andres Conrad Römelingh

CONRAD ROMELINGH was reeds in 1550 in dienst van Graaf Rudolph van Diepholz. Ontvangt 14 November 1564 een “Kanonikaat” te Mariendrebber. Dat bevreemdde mij want dat leek me een zuiver Katholieke instelling. Navraag bij de Archivaris in Diepholz (Herr Lieberzeit) leerde mij, dat de voormalige Kanunikaten door de Protestanten waren omgezet in wat wij nu zouden noemen “Stichtingen” uit welker inkomens b.v. nieuwe scholen (met de Nieuwe Leer uiteraard) werden gefinancierd.Een deel van de inkomsten bleef echter voorbehouden aan de Kanunikaat-beheerder en een dergelijke benoeming betekende gewoon een bron van inkomsten.
Tot Juni 1569 ambtsschrijver te Lemforde en dan wordt hij benoemd tot Kanselier van het Graafschap Diepholz. Fungeert als zodanig tot Januari 1577 en wordt dan secretaris van Graaf Friedrich ll van Diepholz, 6 April 1584 voorkomend als Grafelijk Raad(sheer ?) Blijft na het overlijden van de Graaf in dienst van het Graafschap,daaruit ontslagen 23 1589. Komt na 22 Aug.1586 voor als Keizerlijk Notaris (bron: Corrie Foppes-Arendz).
