Nell A. Olmsted, 88, of Wausau, died Wednesday, March 3, 2004, under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Community Health Care Wausau Hospital.

She was born Jan. 1, 1916, in Ringle, daughter of the late Peter and Anna (Tepaske) Hettinga. On March 16, 1935, she married Claude Olmsted in Ringle. He preceded her in death Dec. 4, 1994.

Nell was a homemaker and an active member of the New Hope Community Church, Wausau. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Survivors include four daughters, Sylvia (Joe) Lathrop, Gladwin, Mich., Judy (Cal) Herrema, St. Petersburg, Fla., Sandy (Ted) Cram, Fenton, Mich., and Kathy (Ray) Nicholas, St. Petersburg, Fla.; two sons, Tim (Nancy) Olmsted, Appleton, and Dan (Jodi) Olmsted, Ringle; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Andrew P. (LaVerne) Hettinga, Wausau, and Kenneth (LaVerne) Hettinga, Pulaski; and two sisters, Evelyn (Gerald) DeBoer, Lemars, Iowa, and Agnes Patterson, Wausau.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Claude Olmsted; a son, Dennis Olmsted; two brothers, Ray and Rick Hettinga; and one sister, Jane Wilke.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 6, 2004, at New Hope Community Church, Wausau. The Rev. Larry J. TenHaken will officiate. Burial will be in Forestville Cemetery, town of Easton.
