    Musicus Folkert Grondsma is op 20 december onverwachts overleden. Hij werd 56 jaar. Grondsma studeerde aan het Stedelijk Conservatorium in Groningen bij Wim van Beek (orgel), Jaap Spigt (klavecimbel) en Hans Henkemans (compositie). In 1975 ontving hij de Prijs van Uitnemendheid. Bij Cor Kee bekwaamde hij zich in orgelimprovisatie. Hij volgde ook lessen in Parijs bij Jean Langlais en studeerde compositie bij Max Deutsch.

    Sinds 1973 werkte Grondsma als docent muziektheoretische vakken en orgel aan het Rotterdams Conservatorium. Regelmatig concerteerde hij in binnen- en buitenland. De laatste jaren gaf hij nauwelijks concerten meer. Kortgeleden nam hij na jaren van voorbereiding in Bologna de Fiori Musicali van Frescobaldi op. Grondsma was als organist aan de Hartebrugkerk in Leiden verbonden, waar hij wekelijks het Maarschalkerweerd-orgel uit 1877 bespeelde

De organist/componist Folkert Grondsma (1944-2002) studeerde orgel en theorie aan de conservatoria te Groningen en 's-Gravenhage, en improvisatie bij Cor Kee. Andere docenten waren Wim van Beek, Jean Langlais, Gaston Litaize en Olivier Messiaen (analyse). Hij was docent theoretische vakken en orgel in Rotterdam en organist van de H. Pauluskerk te Den Haag en later van de Hartebrugkerk te Leiden. Ook was hij zeer actief binnen de Gereformde Organisten Vereniging en schreef hij menig artikel voor Organist & Eredienst, het orgaan van deze vereniging.

Voor het Rotte's Mannenkoor schreef hij Stultitia Laus, een groots opgezet werk voor mannenkoor en orkest op teksten van Erasmus.

Voor orgel schreef hij o.m.:
