Beekbergen ligt ten zuiden van Apeldoorn aan de oostzijde van de Veluwe. De plaats ontstond in de elfde eeuw rond de toen gebouwde voorganger van de vijftiende-eeuwse hervormde kerk. De streek kreeg al in het neolithicum permanente bewoners.
