Biographisch woordenboek der Noord- en Zuidnederlandsche letterkunde:

Hamaker (Hendrik Gerard), zoon van den voorg., geb. te Leiden, 16 Juni 1819, stud. van 1835 tot '42 aldaar in de letteren en prom. in dat jaar met: Quaestiones de quibusdam orationibus Lysiae. Hij bekleedde nooit eene openbare betrekking, doch gaf privaat-onderwijs, eerst te Hilversum, laatst te Leiden en woont thans te Katwijkbinnen.

Zijne geschr. betreffen de oude letteren, bijzonder Aristophanes, o.a. voorkomende in de Mnemosyne van prof. Cobet. Sinds 1870 bepaalde hij zich meer tot de studie der bronnen onzer middeleeuwsche gesch., waaraan men deze verdienstelijke uitgaven dankt: De Middeneeuwsche keurboeken der stad Leiden, Leid. 1873; De Rekeningen der Grafelijkheid van Holland, 3 dln., Utr. 1876-'78; Id. van Zeeland, 2 dln., ald. 1880-'81, door het Hist. gen. uitgegeven.
