In 1838 koopt Klaas Harmen Pen, veenbaas aan de Lendedijk onder Spanga van Bouwe Klazes Oosten en Pieter Klazes Oosten, 'ongeveer vier bunders drieentachtig roeden en zeventig ellen hooiland, voorzien van klijn, liggende te Spanga, in nummer 15 van ouds bekend bij het kadaster Sectie C, nummer 734 en 735, strekkende ten noorden uit de sloot tusschen dit en het hooiland van de verkoopers, tot zuidwaarts in de sloot voor de graverie van Dominicus Hartkamp, hebbende ten oosten de erven van Tette Doekes van der Linde en der koper en ten westen den kooper en Volken Harmens Pen, wordende dit verkochte belast met een floreen van de zeven en een halve floreen op voorschreven nummer, op voorwaarden dat den kooper het regt zal hebben van vrije vaart tot in de domsloot voor zover de verkoopers zulks competeren, behoudende echter de verkoopers ten allen tijde vrije vaart ten behoeve van hunne verdere in eigendom behoorende landen de onlangs dit verkochte.'
