    Dinsdag 14 augustus 2007 - HELMOND - De oudste inwoner van Brabant is niet meer. Jacoba Feijtel-Anthonise overleed zaterdagnacht in zorgcentrum De Eeuwsels in haar woonplaats Helmond. Ze was van 12 februari 1901 en werd dus precies honderdzesenhalf jaar oud.

    "Mijn moeder was tot het eind geestelijk en lichamelijk nog heel goed. Maar we zagen nu aankomen dat ze niet meer kon", vertelt haar dochter Tannie Koonings (76) uit Helmond.
    "Alle familieleden zijn de laatste tijd nog op bezoek geweest; de twee kinderen, de vijf kleinkinderen en twaalf achterkleinkinderen. Ik heb de namen van allemaal kort voor haar dood nog in haar oor gefluisterd en daar reageerde ze op." De oudste van Brabant was van oorsprong geen Brabantse. Jacoba Anthonise werd in het Zeeuwse Schore geboren. Ze kwam als nakomertje op 12 februari 1901 op de wereld, als jongste van acht kinderen. De 106e verjaardag werd nog uitbundig gevierd, vertelt haar dochter. "Ze was een echte Zeeuwse vrouw: bescheiden en op de achtergrond. Ze wilde alle aandacht rond haar persoon helemaal niet, maar onderging die. Ze nam het op de koop omdat wij het wel leuk vonden. Maar achteraf vond ze het dan zelf toch ook wel weer leuk."
    Het was de wens van de overledene dat in stilte afscheid van haar wordt genomen. De familie doet om die reden geen mededelingen daarover.
    Jacoba Feijtel woonde pas sinds een paar jaar in Helmond. Ze woonde tot haar 103e levensjaar op zichzelf in Eindhoven. Nadat haar een onnozel ongelukje overkwam, besloot de familie haar in een zorgcentrum onder te brengen. Het werd De Eeuwsels in Helmond.
    Jacoba Feijtel kende die stad. Ze woonde er eerder. Haar in 1976 overleden man was stationschef geweest in Helmond.
    Wie na het overlijden van Jacoba Feijtel de oudste inwoner van de provincie is, kon gisteren nog niet met zekerheid worden vastgesteld, maar Eindhovenaar Harry Kuijken lijkt een goede kans te maken. Kuijken vierde op 23 juli zijn 106de verjaardag enis daarmee in ieder geval de oudste Brabantse man.

Jacoba Feijtel-Anthonise (105), woonachtig in Helmond, is nu de oudste inwoner van de provincie Noord – Brabant. Deze bijzondere positie neemt ze in nu gebleken is dat Mien Frenkel – Boers uit Huijbergen afgelopen zaterdag op 108 – jarige leeftijd overleed.

De vorige oudste inwoner van Brabant woonde in verzorgingshuis Sint Margaretha in Huijbergen, maar vorige week werd ze wegens verslechterde gezondheid opgenomen in zorgcentrum Mariahoeve in Ossendrecht. Daar kwam zij zaterdag te overlijden.
Burgemeester bij verjaardag
Jacoba Feijtel-Anthonise leeft in zorgcentrum De Eeuwsels in Helmond. Afgelopen februari vierde ze daar haar 105e verjaardag. Naast familie was ook burgemeester Jabobs van Helmond daarbij aanwezig. Sinds haar honderdste bezoekt de burgervader elk jaar haar verjaardag.

Jacoba Feijtel – Anthonise werd geboren op 12 februari 1901 in het Zeeuwse Schore. Ze is de jongste uit een gezin van acht kinderen. Tot haar 103e woonde ze nog zelfstandig in Eindhoven. Overigens woonde ze al eerder in Helmond, omdat haar man (gestorven in 1976) er enige tijd stationschef was bij de NS.
