Willeah "Jean" Summerfield, Vassar, Grandma Jean died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2007 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Saginaw, at the age of 84. Willeah was born Aug. 25, 1923 in Tuscola County, the daughter of William and Alice (Meehean) Donnelly. She married Oscar Tausch. He preceded her in death in March of 1986. She and Fred Summerfield were married in 1987. He preceded her in death August of 2007. Willeah worked at Band Box Cleaners in Vassar for many years, as well as Day Corporation in Mayville. She was a member of Vassar Eagles Auxiliary #2380 and the Red Hat Society of Vassar. Willeah leaves to cherish her memory, son, Randy and wife, Sharon Tausch; seven grandchildren, Tony and wife, Hanna Tausch, Shawn and husband, Mark Williams, Wendy and husband, Robert Verbeek, Kristie Tausch, Alicia Hecht, Sara, Travis and Katie Tausch; 10 great-grandchildren, Melissa, Mike, Karissa, Hugan and Sierra Tausch, Cole and Casey Williams, Kayla, Kaitlyn and Kassie Verbeek and Tanner Hecht; three stepchildren, Becky Atkinson, Ricky and wife, Darlene Summerfield and Ronnie and wife, Annie Summerfield; eight step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren; sister, Ellen Asher and brother Chuck and wife, Barb Donnelly. She was predeceased by her parents; husband Oscar; three sons, Edwin, Ron and Gail; husband Fred; great-granddaughter, Danielle; three sisters, Dorothy, Jenneth and Lizzy and two brothers, Ed and Andy. Funeral service was held Friday, Oct. 5 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Vassar. Pastor Dave Sommers officiated, with burial in Riverside Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Eagles Cancer Fund or the charity of choice. Martin Funeral Home in Vassar assisted the family with the arrangements.
