Arnold H. "Arnie" Sticken, age 88 of Owendale, passed away Monday morning, October 22, 2012 at Courtney Manor in Bad Axe.
Arnie and his twin brother Arthur were born on the family farm in Brookfield Township on March 17, 1924, and were sons to the late John and Lena (Volz) Sticken. Arnie was President for the class of 1942 at Owendale High School. On February 11, 1956, he was united in marriage to Janet M. Schwartz at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Saginaw.
Arnie farmed throughout his lifetime, and worked at Hills and Dales Hospital in the maintenance department for 20 years. He enjoyed clowning since he was 18 years old. He enjoyed local parades and constantly had a unique parade entry or float. Arnie was a good cook, he loved visiting with people, he was an amazing storyteller, and especially enjoyed telling jokes. He was also a practical joker. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was well-loved by his extended family. Arnie especially loved spending time with his only granddaughter, who is expecting twins.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Linkville, where he was an elder, usher, a member of the finance committee, and sang in the church choir.
His survivors include his wife, Janet; two children, Mark Sticken of Owendale and Caroline (Jim) Brief of Reese; a granddaughter, Rachel (William) Verbeek of Vassar; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Florence Armbruster and Eleanor Weiss; his twin, Arthur Sticken; and a half brother, Wallace Sticken.
The Funeral Service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Linkville, with Rev. Lee Wenskay, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Lutheran Church Cemetery, Saginaw.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church building fund or the charity of choice.
A Scripture Service will be 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 24 at the funeral home.
