    Aangezien Izak op 24 mei 1941 in Buchenwald is omgekomen is hij vermoedelijk opgepakt bij de razzia van 22/23 februari 1941 in Amsterdam. De tweede groep Nederlanders die in Buchenwald aankwam, bestond namelijk uit de 389 joodse jongemannen die in Amsterdam - en voor een klein deel in Rotterdam - waren opgepakt. Als reden werd genoemd de dood van een WA-man na afloop van straatgevechten tussen WA-ers en joodse knokploegen. De razzia wekte veel verontwaardiging en was de directe aanleiding tot de Februaristaking. De Amsterdamse en Rotterdamse joden werden via kamp Schoorl naar Buchenwald getransporteerd, alwaar zij op 28 februari 1941 aankwamen. In Buchenwald werd de groep tewerkgesteld in de zwaarste commando’s, waaronder de steengroeve. Hun levensomstandigheden waren extreem slecht, temeer omdat het de Nederlandse joden werd verboden zich in de ziekenbarak te laten behandelen. De eerste doden vielen binnen twee maanden. Op 22 mei 1941 werden 342 overlevenden op transport gezet naar Mauthausen. Vermoedelijk was Izak te ziek om nog met dat transport mee te kunnen.
