Herman Meeuwissen is geboren in Broekhem en wordt 16 maart 1742 gedoopt in Houthem als zoon van Herman en Catharina Heggen. Hij is een broer van Steven*, van Goswin*, van Wouter* en van Maria Agnes Meeuwissen getrouwd met Mathijs Emonts*. Woont in Broekhem, verdient de kost als boer en bezit wat land, in 1769 omschreven als een huis 'met ongeveer twee groote roeden Coolhof en gelijke quantiteijt Bosken'.
Hij trouwt 27 april 1766 in Oud Valkenburg Maria Catharina Jongen, gedoopt aldaar op 1 sept. 1742 als dochter van Caspar, de koster van Oud-Valkenburg en Catharina Bockx. Uit dit huwelijk zijn tussen 1767 en 1773 vier kinderen geboren.
Geruime tijd na de dood van zijn broers Goosen en Steven is ook Herman gearresteerd op 11 jan. 1776 en overgebracht naar de gevangenis van het Landshuis in Valkenburg. Niet willende bekennen is hij daar gedurende drie dagen, 16, 22 en 23 febr. onderworpen aan een verhoor met foltering. Na de eerste dag van dat scherp examen moet de landschirurgijn een week lang komen om zijn wonden te verbinden. Het gerecht vindt na de derde dag dat er voldoende bewijzen zijn voor een doodvonnis. Herman sterft 34 jaar oud op 9 mei 1776 aan de galg op de Lommelenberg bij Valkenburg. De rekening van de beul voor tortuur en hangen is een 'all-in bedrag' van 55 gulden.
Maria Catharina Jongen wordt 23 febr. 1778 in Houthem begraven, zij is maar 35 jaar oud geworden.
