Notes about Berend Gerrits Dobben

Volgens de haardstedentelling van 1764 werd Berend Gerrits aangeslagen voor een "halve plaats", "Berent weever met 't ambt...2 paar­den"; in 1774 ontbreekt zijn naam in de haardstedentelling van Yde; in 1784 wordt vermeld "Berent Gerrijds wever, arm".
    In hetzelfde jaar, op 5 juli 1784, werd voor de schulte van Vries een inventaris opgemaakt van de inboedel van "Berent Wever te Yde". Blijkens deze inventaris bezat hij o.a. een koe, een kast, een spinde, een trog, een karn, een wiel, zes stoelen, een tafel, een ladder, zes schotels, twee koperen koffieketels, een spoelwiel, twee ijzeren potten, kisten, twee vlegels, een spiegel en vier mudden en een schat gesaij (bouwland).
    Na de dood van Berend Gerrits had zijn weduwe onderstand van de diaconie, blijkens de vermelding bij de haardstedentelling van 1794 : "Berent wevers wed. heeft remis." Zij woonde in een huisje van de diaconie aan de westzijde van de brink. Aal­tien Geerts werd later (na 1811) ook aangeduid met de geslachtsnaam Oltstel. Van deze familienaam is in Drenthe verder geen spoor gevonden. Bij de volkstelling van 1949 kwam de naam in geen enkele van de noordelijke provincies voor.

Uit Archief diaconie herv. gem. Vries: "In 't jaar 1790, 12 juli, is betaald aan Albert Homan te Yde wegens een doodkist voor Berend Gerrits te Yde de somma van 5 gulden."
    "In t jaar 1799, 2 mei is betaald aan wed. Roelof Koops te Vries een vierde ton bier tot de begraafnis van de wed. Berend Gerrits te Yde gebruikt, de somma van een gulden."
