    Rebekka Engelhard (1968-1999) studeerde in 1994 cum laude af aan de kunstacademie in Den Haag met een reportage over vrouwengevangenissen in de Verenigde Staten. Ze deed vervolgens de academie voor sociaal documentaire fotografie (FAMU) in Praag. Ze liep stage bij Gerard Wessel en Het Parool (1993). Engelhard werd genomineerd voor de PANL Kodak Award, de World Press Photo masterclass en De Zilveren Camera 1998. Haar voornaamste onderwerpen waren mensen die in maatschappelijke afzondering leven, doofblinde kinderen, gevangenen en kinderarbeid. Haar boek Ommuurde Dromen gaat over vrouwen in gevangenschap over de hele wereld. Een selectie eruit werd tijdens het fotofestival Naarden in 1999 tentoongesteld.
