He was born on Dec. 18, 1918, in Blomke st, the son of Henry W. and Anna (Vander Bleek) Hoekstra. He graduated from W illmar High School, Central College in Pella, Iowa, and Western Theological S eminary in Holland,
Mich. He married Adelaide Wandscheer on Aug. 27, 1943, at Sioux Center. He was an ordained pastor, and he and his wife served the Beth el Reformed Church in Lester, Iowa, for four years; the Aurora Reformed Churc h in Stickney, S.D., for four years; the Nooksack Valley Reformed Church in Nooksack, Wash., for four years; the First Reformed Church in Alexander, Iow a, for five years; the Stout Reformed Church in Stout, Iowa, for seven years; and the Faith Reformed Church in Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., for seven years. Th ey then moved to Sioux Center, where he was a minister of calling at Central Reformed Church for four years. He was a member of and active in Central Refo rmed Church, was a member and past president of the American Family Associati on, which gave him the God and Country Award for 10 years of service, and ser ved on the board of directors of Cutty's Resort at Lake Okoboji, Iowa.
He is survived by his wife; three sons, James (and Bea) Hoekstra of Ames, Iowa, Pa ul (and Lori) of St. Charles, Mo., and David Hoekstra of Sioux Center; five g randchildren; two brothers, Fobbie (and Henrietta) Hoekstra of Willmar, and H arvey (and Katie) Hoekstra of Blomkest; one sister, Ann DeJong of Raymond; an d other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and three sisters.
