Ben’s obituary was published in the March 4, 1992, Parkersburg Eclipse, Parkersburg, Iowa.

Ben Schipper of 1026 Nash Street, Aplington, Iowa, was born the son of George and Anna Bloom Schipper on January 12, 1911, in Butler County, near Kesley, Iowa. He received his education in a rural school near his home.
On January 26, 1932, Ben was united in marriage to Tena Mudderman in the parsonage of the Stout Reformed Church in Stout, Iowa. They farmed 3 miles east of Kesley, from 1932 to 1952, and then farmed Northeast of Parkersburg from 1952 until retiring and moving to their present home in 1973. Ben also was President of the Ripley Township School for many years and he was also a member o the First Presbyterian Church in Aplington, Iowa.
At 2:00 A.M. Tuesday, February 25, 1993, Ben died at the Maple Manor Nursing Home in Aplington, where he has resided since December 31, 1991. He reached the age of 81 years, 1 month, and 13 days. He was preceded in death by his parents; 6 brothers, Harm, Otto, George, John, Andrew, and Richard Schipper; and 2 sisters, Anna Everts, and Grace Hinders.
Ben is survived by his: wife, Tena Schipper, Aplington; 3 children and their spouses: 2 sons, George D. and Jeanette Schipper, Parkersburg, William E. and Anna Mae Schipper, Ackley; 1 daughter, Anna Mae and Marvin Stahl, Wellsburg; 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Hattie Miller, Grundy Center; and 1 brother, Conrad Schipper, Aplington, Iowa.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 A.M., Friday, February 28, 1992 in the First Presbyterian Church in Aplington, with Rev. Douglas Darnold officiating. Mrs. Eunice Stockdale was the organist and Mrs. Jeanette Mennen sang “Each Step I Take” and “I Must Tell Jesus”. The congregational hymn was “God Be With You”. Honorary casketbearers were: Paul Haan and Leonard Schwerdtfeger. Casketbearers were: John R. Schipper, Paul Schipper, Fred Schipper, John Miller, George J. Schipper, and John G. Schipper. Interment followed in Oak Hill Cemetery, Parkersburg, Iowa.
