Kindermoord:
11 oktober 1754: Aaltje Hoogteijlingen, oud 25 jaar, arbeidster op de
steenbakkerij, wonend te Katwijk legt een verklaring af voor de baljuw
en welgeboren mannen van Katwijk. Zij was gevangen genomen op verdenking
van moord op haar pasgeboren zoontje. Op 26 september was zij s'-avonds
om 8.00 uur verlost van het kind, dat zij onmiddelijk daarna heeft laten
stikken. De moeder van Aaltje, Ariaantje Jans van Hoorn, heeft daarop het
kinderlijkje in het water van de Oude Rijn gegooid, achter de schuur
van Neeltje Buijtendijk. De moeder, Ariaantje van Hoorn, alias Adriaan
de Muijs, bevestigd in enkele verhoren een en ander.
Neeltje verklaart verder dat de vader ene Ot was, een dagloner, die in
Valkenburg woonde. Hoewel de naam Vermeer nergens bij deze zaak vermeld
wordt, is het vrijwel zeker dat dit Ot Vermeer betreft.
In die tijd woonde namelijk geen andere Ot, overigen een ongebruikelijke
naam in die streek, te Valkenburg of naaste omgeving.
Het vonnis van de vierschaar luidt, dat de moeder, die zelf in ontucht
had geleefd en een slecht voorbeeld was geweest, bovendien de justitie
in het onderzoek had misleid, verbannen werd uit Holland voor de tijd
van 20 jaar.
