Jan Eussen de eerste gemotoriseerde SRV melkhandelaar te Hegge.

Het was mijn moeder Maria Gertrudis Weusten, die er voor gezorgd heeft dat ik als jongen met mijn vader de melkroute meeliep,ik was goed 14 jaar oud. Aldus de heer Jan Eussen gehuwd met theodora Segers (Doortje) als hij vertelt over zijn werk als melkventer in zijn" jeugd jaren." Toen zijn ouders pas getrouwd waren, werd de melk per karretje achter de fiets bij de mensen thuis bezorgd. Later heeft mijn vader Zef een oude bakkerswagen gekocht en omgebouwd tot melkwagen. Na de oorlog konden mijn ouders nog een melkroute overnemen uit ons dorp die overleden was. Gezien de uitbreiding waren twee paarden met melkkarren nodig. Per week werd ca 300 ltr. "Volle losse" melk gevent. Daarnaast Goede boter, liscoopboter en later nog Bleu Band verkocht te samen met stukken kaas en gestempelde eieren. Een liter volle melk kostte toen 17 cent, de winstmarge was ca 9 cent per liter bruto. De losse melk werd in bussen vervoerd, s'zomers koel gehouden met natte dekens. Als ik me goed kan herinneren , zijn we in 1963 voor ons zelf begonnen nadat ik de route van mijn ouders had overgenomen. Als melkhandelaar moest ik dagelijks de route Hegge, Nagelbeek, Nutherweg, Breinder,Stationsstraat richting Terborg Maken. Mijn paard, Tommy, dat deze route blindelings wist kreeg steeds op een vate plaats bijn een klant een snee bruinbrood. Op een maandagmorgen toen de vrouw des huize achter de woning de was aan het ophangen was liep mijn paard dat ongeduldig was geworden pardoes de oprit op en stak zijn hoofd door de keukendeur naar binnen; geen rekening mee houdende dat achter hem nog een melkkar kwam.
De hele buitendeur werd hierdoor beschadigd. Later hebben we er nog hartelijk om kunnen lachen. In de winter was het soms afzien vooral als het glad was dan moesten er vooraf ijzeren pennen ingedraaid worden in de hoefijzers, voordat je de weg opkon. In 1971 waren we de eerste in ons dorp, die begonnen te venten met een SRV-auto. Mijn vrouw Doortje deed thuis de administratie, en zorgde tevens dat het "lege flessen goed" keurig uitgesorteerd in de melkkratten retour gestuurd kon worden. We hebben samen altijd met veel plezier ons werk kunnen doen mede door een fijne klantenkring. In 1977 hebben we de melkroute mer de SRV auto verkocht aan een jongere ondernemer binne ons dorp om het rustiger aan te kunnen doen.
