Sophia Tanner Married Her Uncle Lawrence Dollarhide Sophia Tanner, the oldest child in her family, was married to her mother's brother, Lawrence Dollarhide. For so doing, no mention is made of her, her husband, nor their children, in a Tanner family history book. The Tanners were mortified that she would do such a thing and kicked her out of the family. Everyone seemed to blame her for the marriage, however, some family tales report that her uncle forced her to marry him. Two children, Modie and Verdie Dollarhide, were reported to be "different" from most people.
