Arrived in 1688 on the ship Berg China with his brother Pierre and his mother, the widow Jeanne Marthe Jourdan (born 1628 ca). Jean later owned the farm "La Motte" in Franschhoek. (La Motte was atown near Cabrieres in France). Jean and Isabeau (Elisabeth) had 5 children, 4 boys:and 1 girl .
