Notes about Simonis "Simon" Lévelt

In 1817 opent Simon LEVELT in de oude haven van Amsterdam een "grutterij" in koloniale waren. Het bedrijf ligt ideaal aan de Prins Hendrikkade 26 (De Ster) en zal daar dan ook 175 jaar gevestigd blijven. Simon verkocht, met liefde voor het vak, de mooiste koffie- en theesoorten uit verre oorden overzee, In 1e instantie alleen aan particulieren, later ook aan andere winkels. Hij kon toen niet bevroeden, dat zijn winkeltje twee eeuwen later zou uitgroeien tot een internatonaal bekende koffiebranderij en theehandel met een uniek assortiment.

Inmiddels is in 2006 de zesde generatie: mevr. Mikkel Lévelt, opgenomen in de bedrijfsleiding, samen met Rob Sikkema. Zij is een dochter van Hans Lévelt, welke in 1969 de directie voortzette na het vertrek van zijn neef Simon Lévelt.

- 21-5-1729 Wouter Levelt, bontjeswever, en Fina (Josephina?) Aaschering, met 3 kinderen, komende van Almelo
- Hermanus LEVELT (ook LEVELD ) geb Almelo ca 1714 trouwt voor de schepenen te Haarlem met Johanna BROUWERS, jongedochter van Wesem in Munsterland (Nord-Rhein WestPhalen; ik kan als gelijkend allen WESEL vinden in deze regio).
- 25-10-1744 Jan LEVELT jongeman van Almelo, trouwt Marijtje KLIJN, j.d. van Haarlem en 10 jaar later:
- 09-06-1754 Jan LEVELT weduwnaar van Haarlem trouwt Margaretha BUSSCHER (ook: Boschaert of Boosgers), j.d. van Haarlem
