135839364550  Rollo (Grolf) “de Loper” van Normandië, geb. 846 Noorwegen, ovl. 933, bekwaam Vikingaanvoerder, “zo zwaar dat geen paard hem kon dragen”, van Noormannen die als bannelingen naar Schotland waren gevlucht en van daaruit rooftochten langs de kusten van Engeland en Frankrijk maakten. Onderwierp bij zo’n tocht de vruchtbare provincie Neustrië aan de Seine, vestigde zich daar en werd zo de grondlegger v.h. hertogdom Normandië. Sloot 911 te St.Clair-sur-Epte een verdrag met koning Karel de Eenvoudige waarbij hij officieel hetgebied in leen kreeg dat hij eigenlijk al had. In ruil zouden de Noormannen de kust tegen andere invallers verdedigen en zich tot het Christendom bekeren. Voor zijn sterven deed hij een royale schenking aan de kerk en bracht offers aan Odin. 2e huw. 912 met Gisela N.N. 1e huw. 886 met:
