44049221210  Hendrik I “de Vogelaar” van Saksen Ludolf, geb. 876, ovl. 02-07-936 Memleben. Hertog, later koning van Saksen. Komt in 925 met een groot leger naar Lotharingenen wordt door alle graven en hertogen als opperheer erkend. Hij laat de bronzen adelaar op het dak van de konongspalts te Aken naar her oosten keren ten teken dat voortaan de wind uit Duitsland waait. Lotharingen had deze keer definitief van meester gewisseld. Terwijl het Westfrankische koningschap roemloos wegstierf, groeide de macht en het prestige van de Duitse koning. Deze zond zoveel mogelijk bisschoppen, graven en militairen naar het gebied. Toen Otto I de Grote voor zich en zijn rijk de keizerskroon verwierf was Lotharingen, en dus ons land, practisch een Duitse rijksprovincie geworden. Geh. met:
