Hij huwde op 21-05-1851 te Rotterdam met Pietje Visser, geboren op 13-08-1827 te Dordrecht, en overleden op 16-10-1878 te Rotterdam, dochter van Willem Visser, zonder beroep, en Cornelia van der Leer. Toen hun dochter huwde woonden Willem en Cornelia te Rotterdam. Johannes Hendrik en Pietje woonden in de Lommertstraat en later aan de Paardenlaan. Getuigen bij het huwelijk van Johannes Hendrik en Pietje waren Pieter Reinier Hoedemakers, smid, Arie de Jong, zeeman, Hendrikus van Hattem, kleermaker, en Hendrik Obreen Wiks, dozenmaker.
