Notes about Bernard Zwerus

Bernard Zwerus werd al op 2 oktober 1944 opgepakt tijdens de eerste razzia en verrichtte graafwerk in Dieren. Na afloop van de tweede razzia van 2 december 1944 werd hij op de trein gezet die in Werth zou worden beschoten. Hij raakte daarbij zwaar gewond, werd naar een ziekenhuis in Bocholt gebracht, kreeg er burgemeester Pont aan zijn bed en werd enkele dagen later overgeplaatst naar het noodziekenhuis Harreveld in de Achterhoek. Op 17 mei 1945 werd hij er ontslagen. Niet lang daarna vertrouwde hij zijn ervaringen op in een soms ironisch geschreven verhaal, dat eindigt op Sinterklaasavond 1944.
