Notes about Steven Mulder (Jans)

Als 20 jarige komt Steven met attestatie van Oosterwolde op 20-12-1808 naar Heerde, waar hij zich vestigd op de molen "de Vlijt" te Wapenveld die hij in 20-1-1809 heeft gekocht van zijn stiefouders Dirk Boeve en Grietje Krange voor 2500 gulden.
Op 21-11-1835 werd op de molen van Steven Jans Mulder de eerste diensten gehouden van de afgescheidenen met als predikant Ds Brummelkamp.
Hij verkoopt de molen in 1853 voor 10.000 gulden aan zijn zonen Jacob en Steven Mulder, de broers verkopen de molen op hun beurt aan hun broer Gerrit Jan voor 12.540 gulden.
Van de opbrengst bouwt Jacob een tweede molen in Wapenveld (bekend als de molen van Volkers) aan de Kanaaldijk.
In 1861 als zijn 2e vrouw is overleden trekt hij bij zijn schoondochter in Gerritje Pleiter de vrouw van zijn reeds overleden zoon Hendrik.
Het schijnt dat Steven de kinderen uit zijn eerste huwelijk financieel bevoordeelt en daar is vaak heftige ruzie over met zijn 2e vrouw.
De ruzie's lopen op gegeven moment zo hoog op dat de molenaar zijn huis verlaat en spoolooos verdwijnt.De verbolgen molenaar keert uiteindelijk terug maar toen wist de buitenwereld al van de zaak.
