Het lijkt er op, dat we een fout hebben gemaakt met het overlijden van deze Jan van der Kaa. We vonden nl een vonnis tegen Johannes van der Kaa van beroep grondwerker, geboren te Teteringen 8 Mei 1883 en wonende te Rijen, voor een poging totverboden uitvoer, waarvoor een gevangenisstraf van twee maanden werd geëist. "Dat hij op 11 November 1916 onder Baarle Nassau gepoogd heeft ene hoeveelheid zeep van ongeveer 40 kilogram vanuit Nederland over de grens naar België uit te voeren door ter uitvoering van dit voornemen in de nabijheid van de Rijksgrens die zeep in de richting van de grens te vervoeren, zijnde de verdere uitvoering van het door hem voorgenomen misdrijf niet voltooid, alleen tengevolge van de van zijnen wil onafhankelijke omstandigheid, dat hij werd aangehouden en de zeep inbeslag genomen werd."
