    Wat was er gebeurd? Vader was bezig met het repareren van een lekke band. Hij gebruikte wat ether om de band schoon te maken en zette het flesje even op de regenton. Kleine Andre pakte het flesje en dronk er van. Het was even een grote consternatie, paniek mag je wel zeggen. Ik herinner me dat de buurvrouw, Anna Wolfs het manneke boven de gootsteen hield en probeerde hem te laten overgeven. Hij is naar het ziekenhuis in Tilburg vervoerd en stierf. Het was voor vader een waar dieptepunt en elk jaar op de sterfdag herinnerde hij wat er gebeurd was. Het kleine witte kistje stond in de voorkamer opgebaard en ik herinner me tegen Rudi te zeggen: Andreke slaapt. Van horen zeggen: het was een geweldig druk bezochte begrafenis. Op het bidprentje had vader een gedichtje laten plaatsen van Guide Gezelle. De familie Kepers verloor ook een kindje op 26 mei, Marie Loiuise Wilhelmine, Adriane, en de twee graven lagen langs elkaar op het kerkhof.

    Adreke stierf op 2 juni, maar kwam pas op 10 juni in het register van Oisterwijk. Hij stierf om 12.45 uur.
