Notes about Luc van Hoek

Luc was Goirlenaar in hart en nieren. Hoewel geboren en opgegroeid in Tilburg, vestigde hij zich met zijn Lena in Goirle, waar hij niet meer wegging,
Afgezien van een korte periode vanaf mei 1943………
Hij weigerde namelijk lid te worden van DE KULTUURKAMER, een organisatie voor kunstenaars tijdens W.O. II, opgelegd door de nazi’s.
Luc dook onder (in een plaatsje in Belgie). Dat was zeer moedig; velen deden hem dat niet na.

“Lena, Lena kom eens gauw want ze zijn hier aan het vechten !”
Deze uitroep van Luc van Hoek , als de kinderen elkaar dusdanig in de haren zaten dat het bestek door de kamer vloog, typeert misschien het best dat hij niet van alle markten thuis was.

In Lena Sieben trof Luc een ontwikkelde vrouw, Zij deed staatsexamen viool en zang.

Kunstenaar Luc was bijzonder veelzijdig.
*Hij was een dichter o.a. de dichtbundel “Tussen Demer en Dommel.”
*Beeldend kunstenaar: Prachtige glas-in-lood vensters voor vele kerken in het Brabantse.
Maar ook voor de Goirlese wollenstoffenfabrikanten; o.a. voor de Fa. H. van Puijenbroek en ook voor de Hollandsche Textiel Industrie.

Voor de firma H.T.I. maakte Luc van Hoek zes gebrandschilderde glas-in-lood ramen voor het directiekantoor. (Aangeboden door het personeel in 1949 t.g.v. het 25-jarig bestaan).

In Goirle staat op de Tilburgseweg een beeld voorstellende LUC en LENA, gemaakt door hun zoon Bart.
