Notes about Roelof van Vulpen

De familie VAN VULPEN stamt af van GISELBERTHUS VAN VELPEN, maar er ontbreekt een verbindend stuk in de stamboom.

In 1310 komt reeds een Ghiselbertus de Velpe voor (Booth). Of deze persoon een voorvader is van Ghisebrecht van Velpen is niet ondenkbaar. De laatste wordt op 26 augustus 1369 tinsgenoot te Leersum. Op 16-4-1387 is Ghisebrecht van Velpen Ghisebrechtsz tinsgenoot te Doorn bij een landoverdracht aldaar op het Sint Barbaragasthuis te Utrecht. In de rekeningen over de tienden van het kapittel ten Dom ( beginnend in 1410) komt Ghijsbert van Vulpen van 1410 tot 1415 voor, eenmaal zelfs als vader van Jan van Wijck.

Giselbert wordt in 1399 burger van Utrecht. Ghijsbert wordt op 2 Mei 1408 door de heer van Gaesbeeck beleend met een 1/2 Hoeve " aen alrehande stucken te Tuyl" (onder Doorn) welk land ruim tweehonderd jaar in bezit van de familie zal blijven. In 1410 gaat het land over op zijn zoon Claes waarbij hij zijn "lijftocht aan dit goed" behoudt.
