Aert heeft waarschijnlijk een broer Petrus Peteren, ook woonachtig in Nuenen. Er komen eind 17e eeuw meer Van Soest-en voor in Brabant, vaak ook in de garnizoenssteden als Breda, Heusden en Den Bosch. Ook rond Oudenbosch wonen veel Van Soest-en. Gezien de niet-Brabantse herkomst van de naam is de stamvader wellicht een militair geweest in Staatse dienst. De naam VAN SOEST zal dan eerder afkomstig zijn van het Duitse stadje Soest dan van ons toenmalige kleine heidedorpje Soest in Utrecht.
