Hij is na het overlijden van Johanna voor de tweede maal getrouwd met Hendrikje Jans Van Echten op 3 februari 1760 te Giethoorn. Vanaf circa 1760, reist de familie regelmatig naar Rotsterhaule voor de turfgraverij, totdat ze zich daar definitief vestigen, vermoedelijk na het overlijden van de vader.
