Paulus Schouten wordt genoemd als vader van zes kinderen: Gerardus (1720) Johannes (1722), Joanna (1723), Franciscus (1725), Hermanna (1727) en Guilielmus (1729). Bij zijn overlijden, door "verval van kragten", woont hij in het Mannengasthuis van de Gereformeerde Gemeente, in de Sint-Jorisstraat. Hij wordt begraven op het kerkhof van Sint-Jan. Opmerkelijk genoeg wordt bij zijn dood gesteld dat hij 83 jaar oud is?
