Notes about Pieter Rogiers

Blijkbaar werd direct bij de geboorte gevreesd voor zijn leven, want hij krijgt eerst een nooddoop thuis door Emerentiana Versluys, waarschijnlijk de vroedvrouw. Deze doorgaans alleen aan priesters voorbehouden taak mocht bij hoge uitzondering uitgevoerd worden door de vroedvrouw, als men vreesde dat het kind door vroegtijdig overlijden ongedoopt zou blijven, en dus niet naar de hemel kon gaan.

Pieter Rogiers was een zeer viriel en vruchtbaar man. Na het overlijden van zijn eerste vrouw Johanna, met wie hij acht kinderen kreeg, hertrouwde hij in 1739 met Isabella Batsoen. met haar kreeg hij ook acht kinderen. In 1755 trouwt Pietr nogmaals, met Godelieve Driessens, en ook bij haar verwekt hij nog twee kinderen. Achttien in totaal...

Zijn achternaam wordt in een akte van het Voogdenregister in 1748 ook geschreven als REGIER. Ook in 1752 wordt hij tweemaal als voogd genoemd.

Het dorp Dudzele ligt ten noorden van Brugge, halverwege het kanaal naar Zeebrugge.
